“My ultimate goal is for [mothers] to feel loved, cared for and taken care of. Parenting is hard, let’s not make it harder if we don’t have to.” – Sariah Price
What We Can Learn From Postpartum Confinement Traditions – Romper
My doula saved my life. She was the one who noticed I was hemorrhaging after the birth of my fifth child. It was this experience that birthed my strong desire to become a Doula.
I am a homeschooling mom to 5, beloved wife to one, American Sign Language using, adopted Mexican mama to many.
I grew up immersed in the Latin culture. Posadas, Catholic Mass, and migrant worker communities all were important fixtures of my childhood. But it wasn’t until I began studying to become a doula that I began to make connections between birth and the culture of my youth.
I dove into conversations with my family, books, online research, and the Latinx community. Little by little, the outline for my Cuarentena Postpartum Doula Training came together-guided by the wisdom of my ancestors.
Since those days, I have continued to broaden my experience in the birth community. I have experience with teaching childbirth education, training and writing curriculum for other doulas, as well as supporting families with both birth and postpartum care. I am a co-instructor for the Raise the Bar Doula Training owned by Utah Doulas and Company. I am also co-founder of Birth Circle and a longtime board member of the nonprofit, Empowering Fearless Birth.
My passion for helping others has not ended with birth. I am constantly seeking out new healing modalities. Whether via tangible means like herbalism or through spiritual healing, I am here to support. This work can include soul retrieval, transition work, closing of the bones, fear release, and aromatherapy. Many of these modalities come with their own set of tools and products that I make myself or source directly from their native countries.
As you might have guessed by this point, I am a master multi-tasker. This has given me the opportunity to serve in various volunteer capacities in my community. I currently serve as a board member for both Soulseed Academy and the Children’s Entrepreneurial Market. In my spare time, I enjoy singing in Solringen (a seasonal women’s singing group) and hosting friends and family in my home year round.
